MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The people of Maharashtra are bidding adieu to Lord Ganesha on the auspicious occasion of Anant Chaturthi. The residents of the financial capital of India are saying goodbye to their favorite deity with sweets, fruits and flowers. This year the residents and organizers of Ganesh Chaturthi have made sure that the coastline remains relatively cleaner and less polluted after the immersion. An entity named the Clean Mumbai Foundation has ensured that this year the environment does not suffer any major damage owing to the immersion of Ganesha idols all over the state.

The Clean Mumbai Foundation has ensured that the fruits, flowers and other items are put into color coded bags for the Anant Chaturthi. The Chair person of the entity, Kunti Oza said that the Clean Mumbai Foundation has got the cooperation from the Ganesh mandals. More than 2000 bags have been distributed by the group to numerous Ganesh mandals in Mumbai. While efforts are being made to keep Mumbai clean during the idol immersion, the Mumbai police is on alert and has stepped up security in the city. The immersion will be monitored by the teams of Rapid Action Force, State Reserve Police Force as well as Quick Response Teams.

The administration is aware that the chances of terror strikes are looming large as the Ayodhya verdict is about to come. Hence it is keeping strict vigil on sensitive areas on the eve of Anant Chaturthi. Sanjeev Dayal the Mumbai police commissioner admitted that the cops are ready for coping with any untoward development in the city.
