President, PM greet citizens on Eid

NEW DELHI - President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh greeted the nation on the ocassion of Eid-ul-Azha which will be observed Wednesday, stating that it teaches the quality of humility and charity.

In her message, Patil hoped that the festival brings all the communities and religions of India together in a celebration of its composite culture and civilization.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that Eid-ul-Azha is an occasion to remember the spirit of supreme sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).

“The festival teaches us to be humble, charitable and to work for the greater good of humankind,” he said in his message.
