Re: Shivratri

Happy Mahashivratri

KOLKATA (GaeaTimes.com) — Mahashivratri is one of the popular festivals of Hindu religion. Every year Mahashivratri is observed in the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) of the month of Maagha.

This year Mahashivratri will be celebrated on February 12. On this auspicious day people worship Lord Shiva with milk, fruits, flowers, Dhatura and Bel leaves. After a day-long fasting they gather at the temple of Shiva at night. Shivratri bhajan is performed throughout the night.

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva was married to Goddess Parvati on this day. People believe that worshiping Lord Shiva on Mahashivratri remove all sins and pave the way to ‘Moksha’ or salvation.

Celebrate the pious occasion of Mahashivratri with great devotion.
