RANCHI - After his team’s loss in the tri-nation ODI series, Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni sought divine blessings in home city Monday.

Dhoni went to Deori temple near Ranchi with his wife Sakshi, father Pan Singh and other family members and prayed there for 15 minutes. He arrived in Ranchi from Sri Lanka Sunday.

India had lost the tournament final to Sri Lanka by 75 runs.

There is popular feeling that Dhoni’s performance declines if he fails to visit the Deori temple, around 40 km from Ranchi on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur national highway.

Dhoni arrived in Ranchi with his newly-wed wife after marriage on July 7 but he could not get time to visit the Deori temple. India had not performed well in test series too against Sri Lanka.

“Dhoni is a regular visitor to the temple. Even family members admit that Dhoni’s performance goes down if he fails to visit Deori temple,” a priest of Deori temple told IANS.

Dhoni returned to Ranchi after visiting the temple, and later caught a flight to New Delhi.
