PATNA - Many Muslim clerics Saturday demanded strict action against a US pastor who had earlier threatened to burn the Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 attack in New York.

During post Eid prayer sermons in many cities and towns of Bihar, clerics asked the Indian government to take up the issue with US President Barack Obama and ensure action against Florida-based pastor Terry Jones.

Speaking in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, Maulana Mohammad Farookh said that the pastor should be given “hard punishment” for threatening to burn copies of the Quran.

Eid was celebrated with traditional fervour in many parts of Bihar Saturday.
