CHANDIGARH - Demon king Ravana may be known for all the wrong reasons in Hindu mythology, but the character played by a Chandigarh man denotes a completely different meaning - the “Ravana” here voluntarily donates blood.

It is not the first time that the “Ravana” in Chandigarh donated blood. He did it for the 48th time Sunday.

At the blood donation camp organised in Sector 30 here, “Meghnad”, “Kumbhkaran” and other characters of the “Ramleela” also donated blood.

Theatre artist Sunil Sharma was dressed in the full attire of “Ravana”, the character he is portraying at the “Ramleela” here these days.

“Ramleela” is a play based on the life and times of Hindu god Ram.

“I donate blood for a social cause. It is a good thing to do and there should be more social awareness about it,” Sharma said.

The blood bank of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) collected over 200 units of blood on the occasion.
