NEW DELHI - With central agencies and Himachal Pradesh police probing the huge currency haul from the monastery of the 17th Karmapa Lama, Home Minister P. Chidambaram Monday said it was difficult to come to any conclusion on the issue till the probe was completed.
“I have been briefed. But I am not prepared to draw any conclusion at this stage. Since I did not draw any conclusion, I cannot share anything with you either,” Chidambaram told reporters replying to queries on the cash haul from the monastery of the Karmapa in Dharamshala and the reported China link.
Several central and state government agencies were investigating the recovery of Rs.seven crore from a trust having the blessing of Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje in Himachal Pradesh.
The Karmapa has denied any Chinese link and has said the charges against him were “grossly speculative and without foundation”.
