KOLKATA - Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Sunday said he was optimistic about the present situation in Tibet and felt things were changing.

“Oh yes. Basically I think things are really changing… I am optimistic about the present situation in Tibet,” the Dalai Lama told media persons at a function here.

Calling for transparency with regard to China, the exiled leader said: “I have a strong sort of feeling that transparency is very essential. Chinese people also have the right to know the reality”.

He said Chinese intellectuals were gradually becoming more supportive to the cause of Tibet.

“More and more Chinese intellectuals are showing interest in Tibet and Tibetan culture,” he added during an interactive session organised by a business chamber.
