MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In Maharastra, the festival of Gudi Padwa is celebrated each year with aplomb and enthusiasm by the residents and this year is not an exception either. The households in Maharastra are adorned with mango leaves, neem leaves and a red flower garlands. These items are all tied on the edge of a bamboo. People eat delicacies like Shrikand puri, puran puri and other sweets to commemorate the festive season. The residents also send SMSes to their friends and relatives to wish them all the best during this occasion.

Radio City 91.1 FM offered the listeners a chance to celebrate this year’s Gudi Padwa with spirit. A week long contest was held by this radio network which is said to be the leading radio network of the nation. The listeners were given chances to win exciting prizes. Yesterday was the last day of the contest. The lucky contestants who took part in the contest will get exciting gifts like LG Washing Machine, LG Microwaves, Kenstar Karishma Food Processors as well as Canon Camera. A lot of people actually took part in the contest which required them to send SMS to Radio City 91.1 FM.

The weeklong contest offered by the Radio City 91.1 FM required the listeners to send an SMS to the network saying why they should be given the Gudi Padwa gift. The winners were selected after sorting out the catchiest answers by the radio DJs. The gifts will be delivered to the winners today at the SGS mall by the Radio City 91.1 FM team.
