VATICAN CITY (GaeaTimes.com)- After the Good Friday, when Jesus Christ was crucified, comes the Holy Saturday. On April 3, the Roman Catholic Churches all over the world will mark the Holy Saturday which is also the last day of Holy week. Like every year, this year as well on Holy Saturday the sanctuary will be stripped bare. Many Churches cover the altar with black clothes. Pope Benedict XVI like every year this year too presided over the Holy week and would be presiding over the Holy Saturday. The Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to perform on Saturday a late night Easter Vigil and would commemorate the Easter Sunday.
Apart from the Vatican Church, Holy Saturday will be marked in almost every church across the world. The Easter Sunday which follows the Holy Saturday is celebrated all over the world as the resurrection of the Son of God from the dead. The Holy Saturday is the time to brood over what has happened and to repent for the sin that has been committed by mankind.
However, Pope Benedict XVI on the occasion of Good Friday did not mention about the sex scandal rocking Vatican, and instead marked the occasion by saying that priests are men with peace who are meant to oppose violence. It seems that on the occasion of Holy Saturday the sinner is left to confess the crime and brood over the misdeed that has been committed. According to reports thousands of people took part in the “Holy Fire” vigil in Jerusalem to mark Holy Saturday. The Old City of Jerusalem is visited by thousands of Christians during the holy week.
