LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Hindu Community and Cultural Center of Livermore witnessed heavy arguments from the residents of North Vasco Road who are said to be posing block in the way of the Hindu Temple expansion. Reportedly, the arguments were placed before the Livermore City Council which is looking after the issue.

The expansion plan for the Hindu temple was first proposed by the Hindu Community and Cultural Center which is situated amidst the residential area of North Vasco Road. Reportedly, the residents in the nearby region has protested against the expansion of Hindu temple which they feel is an odd structure in the locality. The Hindu Temple authorities have urged the City Council for a constructional use permit so that they can start off with the work at once.

The residents of North Vasco region told the media that the temple is swarmed with more than 2000 devotees which makes it a crowded place in the neighborhood. They said that the Hindu Temple expansion project shall only add to the crowd which shall also be a hassle to the traffic in the region. The Hindu temple authorities on the other hand told the City Council members that they need to carry on with the expansion project in order to accommodate the devotees who comes to pay visit to the 27 year old temple. Srinivas Pyda who happens to be the one of the most prominent members of the Hindu Community and Cultural Center said that the Hindu temple plans to accommodate a total of 10,000 people with the 31000 square feet expansion. Although the residents of North Vasco are protesting against the expansion, the Hindu temple authorities are stressing upon the religious fervor. They feel that this is a logical ground on which the expansion project proposal should be granted permission.
