NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The residents of Delhi should not expect the roads to be devoid of jams and vehicles on Sunday as the city will witness a massive 20000 weddings on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya 2010. The huge number of marriages are being held on that day as after it there is very few auspicious dates before November 17 for weddings. The astrologers and pundits are making the most out of this opportunity and a lot of them have to perform in a number of weddings. The occasion of Aksahay Tritiyia is especially liked by people as there is no fixed time for marriage ceremony on that day. Any time of the day is considered holy for the purpose.
Anyhow, huge traffic jams are expected on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya 2010 in Delhi. After Delhi Municipality prohibited holding wedding ceremonies in 675 municipal parks from January this year finding a venue has turned out to be an ordeal. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials however want to ban holding any social function in the parks within a couple of years. While the families that are involved in the marriages taking place on the occasion are having a tough time managing everything, the banks are having a gala time owing to the demand for gold.
