Amarnath Yatra 2010: Security Beefed Up

PAHALGAM, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- This year’s pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Amarnath in Northern India will commence on July 1 and end on August 24, 2010 which is also the day of Raksha Bandhan. The holy shrine witnesses a lot of footfalls every year during the auspicious season and pilgrims from various parts of the country assemble to the hilly terrain and undertake the journey despite the odds. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board’s Chief Executive Officer RK Goyal said that Te registration for the pilgrimage will begin on June 5. The pilgrims can opt for registration at the 121 branches of Jammu and Kashmri Bank nationwide. Those who want to avail the Pahalgam route can register themselves before Aug 22. The registration for the pilgrims taking the Baltal route will end on August 23.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board is offering the pilgrims an accident insurance worth INR 100000 for free for the Amarnath Yatra 2010. The SASB will ensure that each pilgrim gives a certificate saying that he or she is physically for taking the journey in high altitude and rough terrains. The security around the Amarnath shrine and in Jammu and Kashmir has been stepped up to prevent any unwanted incident. The police in the state have taken all precautionary steps to thwart any incident of violence.
The Amarnath Yatra 2010 is going to witness the joining of thousands of devotees. Special control rooms will be thee to take care of the pilgrims as the news has come. The pilgrims who cannot walk the distance can avail of helicopter services for the Yatra.
