Pandharpur Temple Brimming With Devotees

SOLAPUR, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Pandharpur Yatra is an auspicious pilgrimage for thousands of devout Indians who wait for this yearly festival. They wait for the holy Aashadhi Ekadashi. Pandharpur is located in the Solapur district of Maharashtra. During the season the place witnesses thousands of devotees and the come to worship and pay their respect to Lord Vithal. A lot of devotees come from adjacent states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. They perform a number of religious rituals and pray to the god for a life full of prosperity and happiness. A lot of people walk all the way to the temple from their native places. The place is brimming with the devotees now.
This year a number of people have come to Pandharpur from Goa and they have walked the distance. The group includes an elderly woman who is in her 80s. As a matter of fact the pilgrims have come to Pandharpur temple from the Middle Ages and the tradition is still alive. A lot of these pilgrims undertake the journey barefoot despite the troubles. There is a story that has been handed down from generation to generation behind the festival. The temple is regarded as an extremely auspicious place.
The Vithalapur temple’s committee has arranged for a number of religious and cultural programs. On Wednesday a devotional music concert will also take place. Pandit Raja Kale will be seen performing in this program. A number of devotional programs will also be arranged. These events held at the vicinity of the Pandharpur temple are going to get adequate media coverage.
