Abu Dhabi, Aug 18 (IANS/WAM) Around 1,000 motorists travelling across Abu Dhabi are being served iftar meals daily to create awareness in the Emirates during the holy month on wastage of food.

A charity organisation - Centre of Preservation of Grace - is distributing the food.

“The humanitarian initiative is being carried out through fuelling stations,” said Sultan Al Shehi, director of the Centre.

“The centre will distribute 30,000 iftar meals throughout the fasting month,” he said, adding that low-income workers, orphans and widows in Abu Dhabi were also offered food.

The project aims to increase public awareness about the importance of showing compassion and kindness towards disadvantaged groups in the society regardless of their nationality or religion, an official said.

In addition to food, other commodities such as clothes, furniture and medicine are also being distributed.
