Lima, Sep 19 (IANS/EFE) Peruvian archaeologists have discovered two ceremonial temples believed to be buried since more than 4,000 years.
The temples are said to have been used by people belonging to Bracamoros culture for 800 years, the daily El Comercio reported.
Fourteen burial vaults were also found at the site with skeletons of newborns and adolescents placed there as offerings, the newspaper said.
The Bracamoros culture occupied part of the current Ecuadorian province of Zamora Chinchipe and the Peruvian regions of Amazonas and Cajamarca where the temples were found, the daily said.
The team led by Quirino Olivera also found large semi-circular walls built with a mixture of mortar and stones weighing 200 kg.
