SHIMLA - The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to link a Hindu shrine in Hamirpur district with a ropeway after which it would take just 10 minutes to traverse a distance of two km, an official said here Thursday.

“A two-km ropeway between Shahtalai and Deotsidh (Baba Balak Nath Temple) would be soon commissioned under build-operate-own-and-transfer (BOOT) basis,” Principal Secretary (Tourism) Manisha Nanda told IANS.

The lower terminal point would be located near Shahtalai in Bilaspur district and the distance would be covered in less than 10 minutes, she said.

Nanda said Gurgaon-based RITES India Ltd would complete the survey of the ropeway by end of next month.

Every year more than 25 lakh pilgrims visit the Deotsidh temple, some 30 km from Hamirpur town.
