Pundit who popularized Gayatri Mantra remembered

MATHURA/AGRA - The centenary celebrations of Pandit Sri Ram Sharma Acharya, who popularized Gayatri Mantra like never before, started here Sunday.
In Mathura, the celebrations began with a Kalash Yatra and prayers. The Methodist Church campus saw thousands of “Gayatri Parivar members pouring in. Agra Mayor Anjula Singh Mahaur led the procession.
Talking to IANS, one of the organisers, I.S. Pandey, said programmes were being organised at 4,000 branches of the Gayatri Parivar.
Pandit Sri Ram Sharma is credited with authoring more than 3,000 books and monographs, explaining the finer aspects of Hinduism.
The celebrations will continue round the year.
