BHUBANESWAR - Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Tuesday inaugurated a Buddhist monastery in Orissa’s Gajapati district.

The five-storeyed Buddhist monastery, Padma Sambhav Mahavira, said to be one of the biggest monasteries in this part of the country, was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama at Jirang in the presence of a large number of followers.

The 75-foot-high monastery is built over a 10 acre plot and houses a 21-foot-high Buddha idol.
