NEW DELHI - President Pratibha Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday greeted the nation on the eve of Ram Navami.

Patil said in her message: “May this day inspire us to spread Lord Ram’s message of righteous conduct and selfless service and strengthen our resolve to strive for justice and human dignity to build a glorious India.”

Ansari said Lord Ram was a “maryada purushottam” and inspired generations of mankind to uphold high standards of ethical conduct in life.

“His life and teachings have the power to provide guidance and spiritual solace in all phases of our lives,” he said.

Praying that the festival Wednesday would bring “joy and happiness for all”, Manmohan Singh said: “The life of Lord Ram inspires us to follow the path of righteousness even in the face of extreme hardships.

“Ram Navami is an occasion to rededicate ourselves to living virtuously,” he said.
