Camp opens for Ajmer Sharif pilgrims

NEW DELHI - Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday opened a 20-day transit camp for pilgrims going for the annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer Sharif.

Set up at Burari in north Delhi for the 10th time in a row, the transit camp will cater to the pilgrims from several parts of the country on their way to Ajmer to attend the 798th annual Urs.

In her address, Dikshit urged the pilgrims to pray for the unity and brotherhood at Ajmer Sharif.

A number of ambulances have been deployed at the site and CCTV cameras installed for security reasons, a government statement said.
