Rath Yatra 2010 In Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Today is an auspicious occasion in India as the Rath Yatra is being celebrated in vamoose parts of the country. This annual event sees the gathering of millions of religious minded people at key cities of the country where the chariot festival is celebrated amidst enthusiasm and gusto. While the Rath Yatra in Puri Orissa hogs the maximum limelight there are some other states and places in country where it is also celebrated as a major festival. A few hours back the Rath Yatra was flagged off in Ahmadabad, Gujarat. Narendra Modi who is the CM of the state flagged off the Yatra amidst tight security. For the city this is the 133rd Rath Yatra and the 2010 Rath Yatra started from Jamalpur’s Jagannath temple. The CM did the usual cleaning of the chariot with a broom.

The Chariot was pulled by the CM to mark the beginning of the voyage that will carry on till the end of the day. Several other political leaders including Amit Shah the Minister of State for Home were present at the venue today morning. Before the chariot rolled out for Rath Yatra 2010 a group of tribals did a folk dance at the venue which was enjoyed greatly by the viewers.

A large crowd was there and to keep them in check a huge police force was deployed. Ahmedabad has been wrapped in a security blanket to prevent any harmful incident from taking place during the auspicious event and festival that will last for one week. The Rath Yatra 2010 in Ahmadabad is being covered by a number of channels.
