Ramzan Celebrations In Egypt

CAIRO, EGYPT (GaeaTimes.com)- The devout Muslims will start celebrating the holy month of Ramzan that begins Wednesday worldwide and the community in Egypt is no exception to the trends. The Egyptian Muslims have their own ways of celebrating the holy month and a lot of them buy decorated lanterns for the purpose. Typically this month requires the Muslims to abstain from drink and food from dawn to dusk. The mosques in Egypt get decorated with various types of lanterns and the festival mood is perceived everywhere. Earlier the kids used to play with lanterns on streets but nowadays they rarely do that.
Apart from the traditional Egyptian lanterns a lot of Muslims buy the designer Chinese lanterns for Ramzan celebrations. The local made Egyptian lanterns are made with bright hued glass and metal. The residents in Egypt hang them in various places in their houses. The Egyptian also spend a lot of money on food during his month every year. The wealthy lot also spends a lot of money in charity during this time each year. Since Iftar is the main meal they eat, the women in Muslim homes prepare yummy dishes for it. The family members have the Iftar together.
During Ramzan the Muslims also pay visits to their friends and relatives. The government of Egypt also tries its level best to provide the basic amenities to the people during this month. The timings of the Cairo metro are likely to be extended for Ramzan. The cabinet has decided to cancel the daylight saving time and hence will turn the clock back to cut down on the fasting time.
