KOLKATA - Special prayers and masses Sunday marked the 13th death anniversary of Mother Teresa.

Nuns of Missionaries of Charity, a Catholic Order founded by Mother Teresa to minister to the poorest of the poor and the infirm and the dying, held special prayers at their global headquarters Mother House.

Mother Tersa’s three-foot-high cement grave on the ground floor of the central Kolkata building was covered with flowers, as people from all walks of life trooped in to pray at the site. Mother Teresa died Sept 5, 1997, and was buried eight days later Sept 13.

A big mass was held at the St. Xaviers College campus in the afternoon, where a large number of priests took part.

Mother Teresa - born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia, Aug 26, 1910, to an ethnic Albanian family - made Kolkata her home and workplace for 68 years since 1929. She was given the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
