NEW DELHI - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Jolly Saturday denounced an American pastor’s earlier threats to burn the Quran on the 9/11 anniversary.

The threat by Terry Jones of Florida was “unacceptable and provocative”, Jolly said in a statement here. “It shall inflame Muslim sentiments and provoke fundamentalist Islamic reaction worldwide.”

“Tolerance and respect for each other’s religious sentiments promotes global peace. Any move to antagonize Muslims, Hindus and Christians on religious fundamental lines is (wrong),” he said.
