Sharjah, Nov 20 (IANS/WAM) A charity in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) gave out Eid-ul-Azha sacrificial meat to 48,000 underprivileged families in 42 countries, an official said.

The Sharjah Charity Association (SCA) distributed the meat in coordination with UAE embassies and humanitarian organisations across the world, SCA board member Mohammed Al-Razzi said.

The meat was distributed to needy and underprivileged families as well as widows, divorced women and orphans, he said.

Among Muslims, the meat of ritually sacrificed animals is divided into three parts. The family retains one third of the share, the second part is given to relatives, friends and neighbours, while the third part is given to the poor and the needy.
