Reyes, Pagan again out of Mets starting lineup
WASHINGTON — Jose Reyes was out of the New York Mets’ starting lineup Thursday for a second consecutive game because of tightness in his lower back.
Reyes, who was scratched from Wednesday’s game in San Juan, Puerto Rico, against the Florida Marlins because of the problem, said he needed another day off and that he would be reevaluated Friday.
The Mets were also without switch-hitting center fielder Angel Pagan, who missed most of the last week with muscle spasms in his right side.
New York manager Jerry Manuel hopes to have both players back in the lineup by Saturday.
Jesus Feliciano replaced Pagan and hit leadoff, while Ruben Tejada took over for Reyes at shortstop.
