WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com) — Today, August 11, marks the beginning of Ramadan 2010. This month holds great spiritual emphasis to the Muslims. From today the Muslims will undergo a month long fasting ritual. Ramadan is known to be the ninth month of the Islamic calender. September 9, 2010 will supposedly end the 30 day holy event.
The directions for this month as per the Holy Koran are,
The children of Allah should abstain from eating, drinking and sexual activities from dawn until sunset. Instead, they should offer more prayer to Allah and ask for forgiveness of their sins as purity of both thoughts and actions are important.
Ramadan is the month in which the first verses of the Koran are revealed to their prophet named Muhammad. Sometimes referred to as “the night of decree or measures”, Laylat al-Qadr is considered the most holy night of the year, as it is the night in which the Koran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. In fact, the Koran says that this first night is better than a thousand months, and that on this night the angels descend to earth.
A very warm and heart-felt “Ramadan Mubarak” to all. May Allah eradicate darkness from within us and show us the path of light, enlighten us with divine knowledge.
