DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The holy event of Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated in Delhi just like the other parts of India. The birth anniversary of Lord Sri Krishna, a prominent deity in Indian mythology, has made the devout followers excited and happy. However, the government does not want any untoward incident to take place in the capital on the eve of this auspicious occasion and hence adequate security arrangements have been made. The security officials are keeping a close tab on the big markets and temples in the capital in particular. Several thousand devotees of Lord Krishna are expected to visit the temples today and tomorrow to pay their respect to the god. They will also seek his blessing for themselves and their family and friends.

The Krishna Janmashtami celebrations reach the climax at midnight because the Hindu mythology says that the deity was born at that time. The temples that are under the scanner include the Hanuman temple and the Lakshmi Narayan temple. South Delhi’s Chhatarpur temple and the Iskcon temple are also the places where the security has been stepped up. Rajan Bhagat a spokesman for Delhi Police said that the traffic plans are being revamped to ensure the devotees do not suffer in long traffic jams when they hit the street to see the temples on September 2.

The Krishna Janmashtami celebrations are in full swing and metal detectors and CCTV cameras have been placed in the big temples in Delhi. The temple volunteers are also keeping a watch on the premises to ensure the occasion is held without any disruption or mishap.
